Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for urgent international action against Israeli settler violence, settlement expansion and annexation policies in the occupied West Bank, as well as continuing violations of the Gaza ceasefire.
Addressing a meeting of the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine in New York, Dar said the situation in Gaza and the West Bank demanded immediate attention, warning that Israeli policies were threatening the territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian territory and undermining the possibility of a viable future Palestinian state.
He also condemned incursions by extremist settlers at Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Dar urged OIC member states to strengthen diplomatic coordination, support the full implementation of the Gaza peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and ensure that Gaza’s reconstruction and governance remain Palestinian-led, with a central role for the Palestinian Authority.
He further called for accountability over alleged violations of international and humanitarian law and renewed efforts for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
His remarks came as Israel advanced plans for 3,401 housing units in the controversial E1 settlement area near Jerusalem, which critics say could further divide the West Bank and threaten the territorial contiguity of a future Palestinian state.
The UN has also documented more than 1,600 settler attacks across 275 Palestinian communities in 2026, while over 2,600 Palestinians have been displaced amid settler violence and related access restrictions.
Dar said Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people remained steadfast and urged the international community not to lose sight of their legitimate and inalienable rights.
