Islamabad Capital Territory Police recovered a newborn allegedly taken from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and detained three women for questioning following a reported abduction attempt at the hospital.
Initial findings indicate the three women approached the baby’s mother and gained access to the newborn by showing affection and offering to help care for the child. They allegedly took the baby before hospital security staff noticed suspicious activity and alerted police.
According to an official, the Karachi Company Police Station team responded quickly after receiving the report and recovered the child safely.
The detained women are reportedly residents of Qila Gujjar Singh in Lahore. According to preliminary information, two of them are sisters, while the third is said to be the daughter of one of the women. Their identities have not been officially disclosed.
Police are investigating how the women entered the hospital, how they approached the mother and gained access to the newborn, and whether they had any prior connection to the family or hospital staff. Investigators are also examining the possible motive.
Officials said the women are being questioned and that further details will be released once the investigation is complete. The exact sequence of events and the legal provisions under which the case may proceed have not yet been disclosed.
ICT Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women and children and praised the quick response of hospital security staff and the Karachi Company Police team. The public was urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police emergency helpline 15.
