Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered the armed forces to update the country’s “Targets Bank,” so that tangible and intangible assets linked to the United States and Israel remain within reach of Iranian forces, according to a statement from his office. He also directed the military to deliver an “immediate, effective response without geographical limitations” to any threat.
The directives followed a meeting with senior commanders and also call for stronger military information systems, indigenous doctrine and tactics, and new technologies under what he described as “maximum deterrence.” Khamenei said that if enemies launch fresh military or terrorist attacks, Iran’s armed forces will determine the time and conditions for their end.
The wording is significant. “Intangible” assets point beyond bases and ships to cyber, financial, and information targets, while “without geographical limitations” signals that any response would not be confined to the region. The timing is just as notable. The order comes as reports describe a preliminary US-Iran framework and direct talks expected in Doha, suggesting Tehran is stating its deterrent posture while negotiating so that diplomacy is not read as weakness. Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia has separately warned that renewed US military action would widen the conflict regionally.
