Powerus, a U.S. drone firm backed by two of President Donald Trump’s sons, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pakistan’s Army for an initial order of unmanned aerial systems. The company confirmed the deal to Reuters, though it did not disclose the order’s value.
Co-founder Brett Velicovich confirmed the agreement on September 17, 2026. He said the deal covers unmanned aerial systems but declined to share the number of units, technical specifications, or financial terms, citing security and commercial confidentiality.
Pakistan’s military said a Powerus delegation led by Velicovich met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi. The talks covered defense procurement, production, and long-term capacity building in the unmanned and autonomous systems sector.
The agreement is a framework MoU, not a finalized multi-year contract. The initial order falls under that framework, and any expanded cooperation will depend on future agreements and U.S. government approval.
Company executives said the longer-term goal could include joint ventures and local manufacturing of drone and counter-drone products in Pakistan. No commitments on technology transfer or production lines have been made yet.
The deal comes as Powerus prepares to merge with publicly traded Aureus Greenway Holdings, a company backed by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump through their investment vehicle. That connection has drawn attention in Washington and New Delhi. Powerus says its contracts are awarded on merit and that the president’s sons play no role in business or procurement decisions.
For Pakistan, the MoU is a step toward diversifying its drone fleet beyond Chinese, Turkish, and domestic platforms. It could open a new channel for U.S. technology, even though Washington has suspended direct military aid to Islamabad since 2018.
How much this actually changes will depend on what gets delivered, how well it integrates with Pakistan’s existing systems, and whether the framework turns into approved export licenses and real production deals.
