PIA to Launch Three Weekly Islamabad-Birmingham Flights From December 1 as UK Network Expands

PIA Islamabad-Birmingham flights begin December 1, three weekly, as the airline targets 23 weekly Pakistan-UK services.

PIA will launch three weekly direct flights between Islamabad and Birmingham from December 1, the airline announced. The flights will initially operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. A spokesperson said they will serve many Pakistanis living in northern and central England. Birmingham Airport said high demand from Midlands travellers prompted the resumption. The airline aims to raise total weekly Pakistan-UK flights to 23. It also increased London flights from four to seven weekly from October 27.

The expansion follows a long recovery. Pakistani airlines were banned from the UK, EU and US in June 2020, after the Karachi crash. That crash killed nearly 100 people. The EU lifted its ban on November 28, 2024. The UK removed Pakistan from its Air Safety List in July 2025. PIA won approval in September 2025 to resume UK flights, with Manchester the first destination.

The route restores a Midlands link that PIA served before its 2020 suspension. It shows the airline rebuilding trust after years of safety-related restrictions. PIA says rising demand and improved confidence are driving the expansion. The UK is becoming a central market while the airline remains barred from the United States. Lasting success will depend on reliable service, fair fares, and demand beyond the winter peak.
