Pakistan’s Cricket Board (PCB) and Saudi Arabia’s Cricket Federation (SACF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday to construct a state-of-the-art international cricket stadium in Jeddah, marking a landmark step in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding cricketing ambitions.
The proposed stadium will feature premium pitches, modern media facilities, dedicated training areas, and fan zones, positioning Jeddah as a future hub for international cricket in the region.
SACF Chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal described the agreement as a foundational step toward securing cricket’s long-term growth in the Kingdom, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing the sport at every level. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi echoed the sentiment, praising the partnership as an opportunity to connect communities, foster shared passion for the game, and build a lasting legacy that extends well beyond the boundary ropes.
The project draws on Pakistan’s deep-rooted cricketing expertise and infrastructure experience to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sports agenda, which has seen the Kingdom aggressively pursue global sporting prestige across multiple disciplines. Cricket forms an increasingly central part of that push, with Saudi Arabia working to grow the game from grassroots participation through to hosting major international events.
The MoU represents the latest in a series of high-profile sporting investments by Riyadh, and signals a strengthening of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in the realm of sports diplomacy. For Pakistan, the partnership offers both a platform to export cricketing know-how and to deepen its cultural and economic relationship with one of its closest allies.
