Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have departed for Iran as part of Islamabad’s efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir’s visit will focus on efforts toward a peaceful, lasting and comprehensive resolution of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The visit comes as Pakistan continues to play a mediation role in efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. Islamabad has maintained that dialogue and de-escalation remain essential to securing lasting regional stability. Reuters reported that Pakistan has been working to facilitate contacts between Tehran and Washington, with Munir’s latest visit coming amid renewed diplomatic activity.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir and Interior Minister Naqvi also met Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. Pakistan and Iran have previously discussed regional and bilateral security, border management and mechanisms for closer coordination.
The latest engagement highlights Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role as the conflict continues to carry wider security and economic implications for the region.
