Three security personnel were martyred during an exchange of fire after a terrorist attack on a Rangers facility in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar was foiled by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh).
ISPR confirmed the attack was carried out by terrorists belonging to an Indian proxy, Jamaat ul Ahrar. The assailants triggered a blast at the main gate of the Rangers camp and attempted to breach the perimeter, but were met with a decisive response from Rangers troops. Three terrorists were eliminated, and one Afghan national was captured in an injured condition.
Initial reports indicate the attackers used a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device to ram into the main gate of the local Rangers headquarters in Gulistan-i-Jauhar’s Block 5, triggering a powerful explosion. In the immediate aftermath of the blast, the terrorists stormed the compound and opened indiscriminate fire. Four soldiers were also injured in the exchange.
ISPR confirmed sanitisation operations were underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area and that the counterterrorism campaign under Operation Azm-i-Istehkam would continue at full pace.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and commended the security forces for successfully foiling what he called a cowardly attack by “Fitna al-Hindustan” terrorists, noting that Rangers personnel demonstrated exceptional professionalism and bravery. President Asif Ali Zardari also paid tribute to the martyred personnel and affirmed that externally backed terrorist elements would never succeed.
COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir extended condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers, stating their sacrifices reinforced Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to national security.
