Pakistan and Libya have taken a significant step toward deepening bilateral defence cooperation as Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, called on Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on June 24.
The visiting dignitary was received with a Guard of Honour by a tri-services contingent, underscoring the ceremonial weight of the engagement.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and avenues for enhanced military-to-military collaboration. The two nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence ties and expanding cooperation in professional military training and security.
Field Marshal Munir reiterated the Pakistan Army’s dedication to promoting peace, stability, and constructive engagement with friendly nations. Lt. Gen. Haftar, in turn, expressed appreciation for the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their meaningful contributions to regional peace and security.
The visit reflects growing momentum in Pakistan’s defence diplomacy across the Middle East and North Africa, as Islamabad continues to broaden its strategic partnerships through high-level military exchanges.
